Frank O. Gehry is going to receive tomorrow the Prince of Asturias Prize of the Arts from the hands of king Felipe VI of Spain. We congratulate a man better understood by the public than by profession, at least in our country. I think that this is another one of his triumphs: F.O.G. reconciled the modern avant-garde with the intimacy of private memory. Precisely in those terms, he has been a necessary turning point in the modern discourse of the turn of the century which, otherwise, would have been dangerously homogeneous. It is an excellent choice to reward him.
